Day 1: Arrival in Tanzania

Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, our team will be there to warmly welcome you. You'll be swiftly transferred to your hotel in Moshi town. Here, you'll meet your knowledgeable guide who will provide you with a comprehensive briefing about your upcoming trek. They'll also conduct an equipment check to ensure you have all the necessary gear for your adventure. Any missing equipment can be conveniently rented on this day.

Day 2: Nale Moru Gate (1990 guide,m) to Simba Camp (2625 m)

Welcome to the beginning of your adventure! Today, we'll embark on a scenic drive to the quaint village of Nale Moru, the starting point of the legendary Rongai route. Our trek commences through picturesque farmland and verdant pine forests. Keep your eyes peeled for glimpses of the majestic Colobus monkeys, and if luck is on our side, we might even spot elephants or buffalos along the way. Our journey culminates at Simba Camp, nestled at the threshold of the captivating moorland zone, perched at an elevation of 2625 m.

Day 3: Simba Camp (2626 m)–Kikelewa Camp (3679 m)

Today's journey takes us from the serene surroundings of Simba Camp to the elevated heights of Kikelewa Camp. We begin our ascent from Simba Camp towards Kibo, reaching an altitude of 3482m where we pause for a nourishing lunch at First Caves, covering a distance of 5.8km. Energized after our meal, we resume our trek, gradually ascending until we arrive at the picturesque Kikelewa Camp, situated at approximately 3679 meters above sea level. As we gain altitude, the panoramic vistas unfold, reminding us of the immense scale of this majestic mountain. Fresh water awaits in a nearby stream, offering a refreshing respite amidst the rugged terrain. Savor a delightful dinner and spend the night surrounded by the tranquility of Kikelewa Camp.

Day 4: Kikelewa Cave (3679m) – Mawenzi Tarn Camp (4303m)

Today's trek presents a brief yet invigorating climb up verdant slopes, rewarding you with breathtaking vistas of the surrounding wilderness. As you ascend, the lush vegetation gradually yields to expansive panoramas. Your journey culminates at Mawenzi Tarn Camp, nestled beneath the majestic spires of Mawenzi. Spend the afternoon acclimatizing to the altitude and immersing yourself in the natural splendor of the area.

Day 5: Mawenzi Tarn Camp (4303 m)–Kibo Hut (4730 m)

After a hearty breakfast, we set out westward, continuing our ascent on the eastern slopes of Kibo. Crossing the saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo, we trek for approximately 4 to 5 hours until we reach Kibo Hut. Here, we rest and acclimatize in preparation for the final ascent, which commences around midnight. Overnight stay at Kibo Hut.

Day 6: Kibo Hut (4730 m), Uhuru Peak (5895 m), and Horombo Hut (3705 m)

Prepare for an early rise around 23:20. After a light meal of tea and biscuits, you embark on the most challenging part of the trek. The initial trail leads to the rocky path to Hans Meyer Cave (5150 m), a suitable resting point along the way.

Zigzagging up to Gillman’s Point (5681 m) on the crater rim demands significant physical and mental stamina due to its steepness and rocky terrain. This section, known as the Kili shuffle, requires slow and deliberate steps. From Gillman’s Point, expect snow all the way up to Uhuru Peak (5895 m), the highest point in Africa.

Upon reaching the summit, revel in the exhilaration and satisfaction of your achievement. Weather permitting, take time for photographs before beginning the 3-hour descent back to Kibo Hut. After a brief rest, gather your gear and descend to Horombo Hut (3 hours) for your overnight stay. Surprisingly, the return journey to Horombo Hut feels swift compared to the ascent. 

Anticipate spending around 14 hours walking on this demanding day. Later in the evening, relish your final dinner (with soft drinks and beer available for purchase at the camp office) on the mountain and retire for a well-deserved sleep, brimming with memories and emotions.

Approximate Time Taken: 7 to 8 hours to reach Uhuru Peak; 6 to 8 hours to descend to Horombo

Distance: Approximately 12 – 15 hours

Day 7: Horombo Hut (3705 m)–Marangu Gate (1860 m)

After a hearty breakfast, commence your descent, which takes approximately 6 hours, passing by Mandara Hut, until you reach the Marangu gate. It's essential not to distribute tips to your porters until both you and all your equipment have safely arrived at the gate.

During the climb, you will share a tent with 1-2 other climbers, with individual tent options available upon request.unding wilderness. As you ascend, the lush vegetation gradually yields expansive panoramas. Your journey culminates at Mawenzi Tarn Camp, nestled beneath the majestic spires of Mawenzi. Spend the afternoon acclimatizing to the (4303 m)–Mawenzi (5.8 m, 3482 m, 3679 m)–Kikelewa (2625) (1990 guide, accommodation is shared altitude) and immersing yourself in the natural splendor of the area.

Subsequently, drive back to Moshi for a well-deserved hot shower, a sumptuous dinner, comfortable rest, and celebratory festivities!

Day 8: Depart Tanzania

Today offers a leisurely opportunity to unwind after the trek before your departure flight home. Depending on your flight schedule, you might choose to explore Moshi town further, shop for souvenirs, or simply relax before heading to the airport.

If you wish to extend your Tanzanian adventure, options like safaris, visits to Zanzibar, and other add-ons are available for further exploration.
