Embark on a private 6-day Marangu Route climb of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Our adventure tour package price includes shared twin room accommodation. If you require single bed accommodation only, please contact us at least 2 weeks prior to the start of the tour.

** During the climb, you will share a tent with 1-2 other climbers, depending on the number of participants. If you need an individual tent, please contact us. Please note that single accommodation at sleeping huts on Marangu is not possible.

Day 1: Arrival in Tanzania

Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, our team will warmly welcome you and transfer you to your hotel in Moshi town. Here, you'll meet your knowledgeable guide who will provide a detailed briefing on your upcoming trek and conduct an equipment check to ensure you have all the necessary mountain gear. Any missing gear can be conveniently rented on this day.

Day 2: Marangu Gate (1860m) to Mandara Hut (2700m)

Embark on a trekking adventure to Mandara Hut amidst the lush rainforest. After a hearty breakfast, you'll be picked up from your lodge in Moshi and transported to the Marangu gate. Once the necessary paperwork is completed, your exhilarating trek commences, leading you through the dense rainforest. Amidst the towering trees and diverse vegetation, keep an eye out for glimpses of primates. As you ascend, take in the breathtaking surroundings en route to Mandara Hut. After a well-deserved rest at the hut, your guide can lead you to the Maundi Crater, offering a magnificent view of the Kenyan interior.

Day 3: Mandara Hut (2700m) to Horombo Hut (3700m)

After an early breakfast, your day begins with an exhilarating ascent from Mandara Hut. As you leave behind the lush vegetation, you'll soon reach the timberline and transition into the heath and moor zone. Over the course of 4 – 6 hours, you'll trek through these diverse landscapes until the majestic Horombo Hut comes into view at an altitude of 3700m. From this vantage point, soak in the breathtaking vistas encompassing Mawenzi, Kibo, and the vast expanse of the Masai steppe.

Day 4: Acclimatization Trek to Zebra Rocks (4020m) then back to Horombo Hut (3700m)**

Today is dedicated to acclimatization, a crucial step towards summit success. Following a leisurely breakfast, embark on a 4-hour trek to Zebra Rocks (4020m). Named for its distinctive black and white stripes, this rock formation offers a captivating sight amidst the mountain landscape. Upon returning to Horombo Hut, a hearty lunch awaits to replenish your energy. Spend the afternoon unwinding and preparing for the journey ahead.

Day 5: Horombo Hut (3700m) to Kibo Hut (4700m)

Prepare for a challenging and rewarding trek today. The well-maintained trail leads you through diverse terrain, passing the "Last Water Point" before ascending to the "saddle" – a barren plateau connecting the main summit, Kibo, with Mawenzi. Despite its sparse vegetation, the landscape offers breathtaking vistas of the surrounding peaks. After a demanding journey of approximately 5 – 6 hours, you'll reach Kibo Hut. Here, enjoy an early evening meal before retiring early, as the night will be short in anticipation of tomorrow's ascent.

Day 6: Kibo Hut (4700m) to Uhuru Peak (5895m) & Down to Horombo Hut (3700m)

Today marks "The Big Day" – the summit stage. Your final ascent begins around midnight, promising a long and strenuous journey. Passing the Hans Meyer Cave at 5220m, the climb gradually ascends toward the summit. As the sun rises, you'll reach Gillman’s Point (5681m) – the crater rim of Kilimanjaro – where the warmth of the sun slowly envelops the land, erasing the memory of the cold night. Continuing for another 1 – 2 hours, you'll finally reach the majestic Uhuru Peak at 5895m. Upon your return to Kibo Hut, a comforting meal awaits, followed by a brief 1 – 2-hour break before descending to Horombo Hut.

Day 7: Mandara Hut (2700m) to Kilimanjaro National Park Gate (1860m)

As you bid farewell to the majestic Kilimanjaro, your final trek passes through the heath and moor zone back to Mandara Hut (2700m), where a warm lunch awaits. Continuing onward, you'll journey through the tropical rainforest once more, reminiscing on the remarkable journey you've undertaken. After a total of 6 hours trekking, you'll arrive back at the Kilimanjaro National Park Gate (1860m). Here, it's time to express gratitude to your mountain guides before a short transfer takes you back to your hotel in Moshi. Upon your return, indulge in a warm and relaxing shower, reflecting on the achievement of summiting Kilimanjaro.

Day 8: Departure from Tanzania

Today is a leisurely day to unwind after your trek before your departure flight. Take this opportunity to explore the charming town of Moshi and collect some souvenirs to cherish your memories of Tanzania. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have time for additional activities or simply relax and enjoy your surroundings.
