Day 1: Arrival in Tanzania

Upon your arrival in Tanzania, you will be warmly welcomed and transferred to your accommodation in Moshi Town. Here, you will meet your guide who will provide you with a briefing on your upcoming adventure and conduct an equipment check to ensure you have all the necessary gear for the trek. Any missing equipment can be rented on this day.

Day 2: Momella Gate to Miriakamba Huts

Location: Momella Gate, Arusha National Park, Mount Meru

- Elevation: From 4,921 feet to 8,250 feet

- Distance: 10 kilometers

- Hiking Time: 4-6 hours

- Habitat: Rainforest

Departing from Moshi Town, we head to Momella Gate in Arusha National Park to complete the necessary formalities before commencing our trek. The trail begins amidst open grassland, accompanied by an armed ranger due to the high likelihood of wildlife sightings such as giraffes, zebras, antelopes, elephants, and buffalo. Ascending steadily through the lush rainforest, we reach Miriakamba Huts, nestled in a serene grassy glade.

This leg of the journey offers captivating glimpses of the park's rich biodiversity, setting the stage for an exhilarating adventure ahead.

Day 3: Miriakamba Huts to Saddle Huts

Location: Saddle Huts Camp, Mount Meru

- Elevation: From 8,250 feet to 11,712 feet

- Distance: 8 kilometers

- Hiking Time: 3-5 hours

- Habitat: Heath

As we depart from Miriakamba Huts, our journey continues with a gradual ascent through the enchanting rainforest. Eventually, we transition into the heath zone, characterized by the presence of majestic giant heather and other moorland vegetation. Along the ridge of the saddle, we are treated to breathtaking vistas of Mount Meru Crater and the Ash Pit, providing a glimpse of the natural wonders that lie ahead.

Upon reaching Saddle Huts, nestled amidst the rugged terrain, adventurers have the option to embark on an additional hike to the summit of Little Mount Meru. This excursion offers unparalleled panoramic views, while also aiding in acclimatization, ensuring a rewarding and memorable experience for all.

Day 4: Saddle Huts to Summit - Summit to Miriakamba Huts

- Elevation: From 11,712 feet to 14,977 feet

- Distance: 5 kilometers

- Hiking Time: 4-6 hours

- Habitat: Alpine Desert

Summit to Miriakamba Huts

-Elevation: From 14,977 feet to 8,250 feet

- Distance: 13 kilometers

- Hiking Time: 4-6 hours

- Habitat: Heath

In the quiet of the early morning, just around midnight, we commence our ascent towards the summit. The trail ascends steeply, leading us first to Rhino Point and then onward to Cobra Point. From here, we navigate along the rugged ridge, characterized by ash and rock, until we reach the pinnacle – Socialist Peak. At the summit, we are rewarded with breathtaking panoramas of Kilimanjaro and the awe-inspiring sunrise, casting its golden glow upon the landscape.

After relishing in the majestic scenery, we descend back to Miriakamba Huts, where the journey began, completing our remarkable expedition on Mount Meru.

Day 5: Descent from Miriakamba Huts to Momella Gate

Exploring Tululusia Waterfall in Arusha National Park

After savoring a nourishing breakfast, you embark on your final descent towards Momella Gate, marking the culmination of your unforgettable journey. Utilizing the scenic southern route, you descend through the enchanting montane forest, immersing yourself in its tranquil beauty.

En route, marvel at the breathtaking Fig Tree Arch, a natural marvel nestled amidst the verdant foliage. Take your time to appreciate the serene surroundings and the diverse flora and fauna that thrive in this pristine environment.

Upon reaching Momella Gate, transportation awaits to transfer you to your hotel, where you can reminisce about your adventure and unwind in comfort.

Approximate Time Taken: 4 – 5 hours

Day 6: Departure from Tanzania

Today marks the end of your trekking adventure, allowing you some leisure time to unwind before your departure flight. Take this opportunity to relax and reflect on the incredible experiences you've had during your journey.

If your flight schedule permits, you may choose to explore the charming town of Moshi, where you can stroll through its bustling streets, browse local markets for unique souvenirs, or simply enjoy a peaceful moment in one of its quaint cafes.

For those with a spirit of further exploration, consider adding on exciting adventures such as safaris, visits to Zanzibar, or other captivating excursions to extend your Tanzanian experience.
